Hello! My name is James Woodall. I specialize in helping students craft the best versions of themselves in writing -- whether that be for a big term paper, a college application, or a creative work. I've worked for some of the most renowned tutoring agencies in the world that have helped students gain admission to prestigious Ivy League universities. I often found from my experience as a tutor and my time as a student at Columbia and Duke that there is a relative dearth of public school students (like me) at these institutions. As a graduate of Northport High School '14, I want to help public school students receive the same guidance that students at elite preparatory academies receive. It doesn't take being valedictorian, salutatorian, or even holding a Top Ten spot in your class to bring elite universities within your reach.

College Applications
My goal is to help students write about themselves in a creative and confident, yet humble, way. I guide students through the college application process by brainstorming essay topics, as well as extensively line editing and critically reading drafts. Additionally, I can help students strategize ways to tailor their application to specific universities, help them find a niche, and find other academic activities to push their application to the top of the pile.

Subject Fields: History and English
History and English can be demanding subjects and it's no shame to need a little help when the assignments pile up and your cursor continues to blink blankly on your word processor. I majored in U.S. history at both Columbia and Duke, but took courses spanning the stretch of human history and literature. Reading help, subject explanations, and essay writing are my specialities here!
Essay Competitions
It is important when applying to college to build a story and show continued commitments to writing and improvement. Many students at elite prep schools write numerous essays for competitions and journals. I can help students identify how, when, and why to write for one of these numerous essay competitions that could put your application a step above other public school students.
Proofreading
